Student Testimonials

Fall 2023

“Emma is a wonderful and talented teacher. She is extremely kind, relatable, and understanding. I could not recommend Emma as a teacher more. She teaches with the utmost quality, respect, consideration, and engagement.”

“This was my favorite class I have taken in college so far. I am a junior and this class piqued every one of my interests. I felt I was truly learning about topics and themes I was interested in and that Emma paired phenomenal examples with the content. This class would NOT be the same without her insights and string grip on pop-culture. I loved attending office hours and getting to gain a deeper understanding of our topics and just hanging with Emma! She always made me feel comfortable and confident in my ability and may have room to grow and that is something as a college student I have not found every semester. If I could do this course over again I absolutely would . . . but only with Emma of course. I am taking away so much from this class and feel educated and inspired.”

“Emma Lynn is one of my absolute favorite teachers. I love the way she runs a classroom, presents information, and applies concepts to our interests. Emma as a person is also lovely and it has been really nice to have a teacher I feel comfortable with. I had a lot of personal events this semester and it was helpful to have a teacher who not only cared about my work in the classroom but my wellbeing outside of it. I really appreciate her.”

“Emma made every resource easily accessible to all! I also felt this was a safe space for me to share my voice and opinions... it was a brave space where I not only felt safe, but I felt my opinions may be challenged critically which would then give me the opportunity to learn!”

“Emma was fantastic of giving us a timeline to when she would have our assignments graded. I really like that she allowed us to choose how much feedback we wanted.”

“Emma was great at creating a welcoming, comfortable environment. She truly looked at us as humans and not just students. Always had a positive attitude and checked on us along the way through lectures to make sure we understood content.”

“Emma was great at providing feedback and creating an environment that was comfortable. She is always willing to listen and is incredibly kind.”

“Emma expected us to preform at a high level being that we are all upperclassmen. However, one of the reasons I loved her teaching style and personality the most is that she knew we were students and people. She extended grace to us as students and this only created a stronger bond of trust between us (her students) and her!”

“Professor Lynn is an absolutely incredible professor. I am so thankful to get to have taken one of her courses this semester. Professor Lynn is extremely organized with the Canvas materials for this class, with the daily powerpoints for class, timing on providing detailed feedback, and with providing reminders for her students on the expectations and deadlines of the week, each week. Professor Lynn also takes an incredibly compassionate approach to teaching, which created a very calm environment to be apart of, in my experience. I felt able to ask many questions as needed, and even felt able to ask if there was a possibility for an extension once when I needed it. Professor Lynn is one of my favorite professors so far in my college experience. Her organizational skills, detailed and intentional feedback, and incredible knowledge on the topics she covers, make her class such an enjoyable experience.”
